The GR Cup will be sanctioned by SRO America, which has 30 years of experience under its belt managing GT2, GT3 and GT4 series, in addition to Touring Car and various other race and rally series. Fourteen events on seven racetracks across the U.S. are on the schedule for the 2023 season.
The series will allow the opportunity to hit the track with an affordable race car in the form of a significantly modified Toyota GR86 coupe. The transformation of a stock car to a GR86 Cup car is performed at TRD’s new facility in Moorseville, North Carolina.
The GR Cup racing series obviously seeks to raise awareness of the company’s Gazoo Racing sub-brand, in addition to its models, including the Toyota GR86, the Toyota GR Supra and the most recent addition to the lineup, the Toyota GR Corolla.
